Cornish energy broker Total Energy Solutions is celebrating after winning the Corporate Social Responsibility crown at the Western Morning News Business Awards 2019.
The Stoke Climsland based family firm picked up their accolade at a prestigious awards ceremony held in Plymouth last night (Nov 22).
Total Energy Solutions fought off stiff competition from four other shortlisted businesses to be awarded the CSR accolade.
Managing director of Total Energy Solutions, Alastair Carnegie, said: “We are absolutely thrilled to have won this fantastic award at one of the most prestigious business events in the region. It means so much to our small team.
“In our industry, trust is the hardest thing to get and, since our launch in 2007, we’ve always set out to be different from other brokers. Operating in an ethical and responsible way has always been at the core of our company.”
A percentage of Total Energy Solutions’ profits are donated to charitable causes while its employees are actively encouraged, and supported, to give up time to help local charities and organisations.
Alastair added: “We truly believe that all businesses should give back to their local communities and we not only donate a share of our profits and our own time, we also place a very high value in supporting those in need as well as helping our future generations.”
In the last 12 months, the small team of six has between them given blood, served on charitable boards, helped customers with their CSR activities, provided printing services for local charity events and supported local foodbanks along with the homeless.
Total Energy Solutions has also run employability mentoring programmes at schools and colleges across the South West helping give young students an insight into what the world of business is really like.
In entering the CSR category of the WMN Business Awards 2019, companies had to "demonstrate how they make a social, economic and environmental impact. CSR can involve a range of activities such as: working with communities and charitable groups, developing relationships with employees and customers, environmental protection and sustainability.”Total Energy Solutions fought off competition from four other companies who were also up for the award; CATERed Ltd, Moo Music Plymouth, Nexus Open Systems and SunGift Energy.Total Energy Solutions were one of 15 award winners unveiled at a black-tie ceremony at the Plymouth Pavilions on November 22.
